Chief Investigator in the Northern Division, Major Moti Jattan told Fiji Village News that cash assistance was not distrusted in the proper manner and alleges that some of the employees at the Commissioner Northern's office paid cash grants to their own families.
Some of the employees also allegedly wrote cheques under the names of family members and cashed them.
Jattan said they also found some of the flood affected victims were given only $100 even though the Interim government allocated $300 to $400 for these families.
It has also been established that some people were given cash assistance even though they were not affected by the floods.
