Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre coordinator Shamima Ali and
Suva lawyer Graham Leung had both discovered they were banned from travel when they arrived at the airport ready to board their flights.
The two incidents made headline news, and Ali says once the news media reports came out, she got a call from a government representative saying she was no longer on the so-called ‘watch list’.
At the same time, the government announced that prominent
Suva lawyer Graham Leung had also been removed from the list.
Both Ali and Leung have said they will continue to pursue court cases against the interim government for refusing to let them travel as guaranteed by the constitution.
